T. Y. Danjuma Foundation Visit to Alkali Hussaini Foundation
The Alkali Hussaini Foundation was identified by the TY Danjuma Foundation as a partner for growth as part of their Integrated Support in Education and Vocational Skills Development (IN-SEVD).
The Board inspected the premises of the Alkali Hussaini Foundation at its headquarters. NO I Alkali Hussaini Crescent, off Sani Abacha Bye pass Road Birnin Kebbi and also held an interactive session with the members of the Board of Trustees of Alkali Hussaini Foundation.
The Board paid a courtesy call on His Royal Highness the Emir of Gwandu Maj. Gen Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar CFR, mni, whereby the Emir conferred the traditional title of Sodangin Gwandu on Gen. T.Y. Danjuma.
The Board paid a short courtesy call to the Governor of Kebbi State where they were received by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Samaila Dabai Yombe.
A total of 100 women were trained under this program. The visit of the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation was to observe first-hand the operations of the Alkali Hussaini Foundation as well as witness the graduation ceremony of the 100 female trainees.
T.Y. Danjuma Foundation made a grant of N 7 million to the Alkali Hussaini Foundation in the year 2016 to establish a Skills Acquisition Centre in Gwandu town to train Women in skills such as; Tailoring, Knitting, and Computer Education. The representative of the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation handed over some equipment comprising some sewing machines, knitting machines, and 2 desktop computers to representatives of the trainees as a symbolic gesture to assist towards their becoming self-reliant. Certificates were also given to all the Trainees reflecting their areas of training.
This laudable collaboration between the two organizations aimed at helping the less privileged was greatly celebrated by community leaders in both Birnin Kebbi and Gwandu with calls for similar training Centres to be established in more communities.
